Detached ADUs

A new detached ADU is a separate and independent residential structure located on the same property as the primary dwelling. Unlike attached ADUs, which share one or more walls with the main house, detached ADUs stand alone and have their own distinct footprint.

Detached ADUs offer several benefits, including increased privacy for both the occupants of the primary residence and the ADU, the potential for rental income or housing extended family members, and flexibility in design and use. They can serve as guesthouses, rental properties, home offices, studios, or even primary residences, depending on local zoning regulations and the needs of the property owner.

Attached ADUs

An attached ADU is a separate and independent residential structure that shares one or more walls with the main house. They can be created either by partitioning off rooms of the existing home, by creating a brand new addition to the residence for the specific purpose of the ADU, or a combination of the two.

An attached ADU is a great option if you don't need all the space currently afforded by you existing residence or if you have limited space on your property for a completely distinct building.

Garage-ADU Conversions (GADU)

A Garage Conversion ADU involves converting your current garage, whether attached or detached, into an independent living space. This transformation results in a self-contained unit complete with its own entrance, including essential amenities such as a kitchen, bathroom, and living area.

Financial Boost: Generate rental income or increase property value.

Space Efficiency: Create additional living space without major construction.

Versatility: Adapt the ADU for various uses like guest quarters, home office, or rental unit.

Junior ADUs (JADU)

A JADU is a small, self-contained living unit built within or attached to a main house. They are also known as "in-laws" or "granny flats." JADUs can be no larger than 500 square feet and are intended to provide additional living space for family members, renters, or guests.

JADUs share utilities such as washrooms and kitchens with the primary house. Some municipalities allow JADUs to be rented out, while others do not.
